I have carried the idea
around in my head for years - the idea of the scroll as a backdrop
or formal setting for an image made 'special'.
The scroll unrolled exposes its heart bare for all to see. The scroll
rolled, gathered up, becomes a secret thing entirely enclosed.
Whatever materials that have fallen to my hand I've used and attempted
to stay true to that 'found' quality. I have allowed the structure
to be clearly exposed so that the validity of each successive step
is clearly explicit.
